about

Guerilla Bass Records is proud to welcome new artist to the label, Jon Tetly. Jon has been honing his craft in the shadows for years, so we are glad to be able to bring you his debut release.

The 'Lost in Jungle' EP sees Jon Tetly joining forces with label head MAC-V for a serious EP which celebrates our love for both the roots of Jungle, and Amen science paired with modern production techniques.

The EP opens with 'Lost in Jungle' -- a '93-94 style anthem, complete with a swirling soundscape of vocals, deep melodies, and an Amen tearout with licks of oldskool timestretches.

'Shape Shifter' is a total warehouse rewind, which showcases a proper combination of the rough with the smooth. Amen alternations over a savagely twisted reese bass on the first half -- with a switch up that plunges into deep Amen edits and lush atmospherics on the latter; Creating a proper journey by keeping the amen sections lengthy and blistering until the very end!

MAC-V opens up the flip with 'Blurred Spectators' -- combining elements of Techstep & Modern Jungle to create a dark, hybrid-Amen stepper, with edits that transform the boundaries of a linear 2-step beat, keeping it both steppin' and shifty at the same time. We start off techsteppin' with Apache fills interspersed, arriving midway with a brief Tighten Up break layer that is introduced, which launches into a full on Amen assault of alternations and filteration on the back half. This is a techy Jungle melting pot of breaks and bass. This is the Guerilla Bass Records way.

The last track is a true grand finale -- with MAC-V unveiling his magnum opus, 'You Decide.' A Funky Mule break intro builds its way into rough Amen edits with a haunting atmosphere of eerie swirling sounds -- consuming us in a wary darkness, and building suspense into an abrupt eruption of niceness. A euphoric atmosphere of smooth pads is unleashed, sending us soaring as we ride the waves of Amen choppage, and Think break fills -- surrounded by the sounds of the 90's with echoes of the classic Artcore "whale samples" that we all love; A track which showcases our passion for the original sounds, and the sounds of nature. The Funky Mule break is re-introduced later on and alternated with the Amens', as we are slowly returned to the original haunting atmosphere of the intro, where we come to realize the niceness was all just a dream of a blissful past, and that we are stuck in the present with an uncertain fate, slowly slipping into the future.

This EP perfectly captures everything we are about at Guerilla Bass Records, and we will continue to push the boundaries in 2020 and beyond, as we strive to keep the original sounds alive.
